This was a new event for us to raise some funds and it went very well. Morrisons provided the wine and cheese for us and St Saviour's Church gave us the use of the church free of charge. Caron Patchett did a tremendous job of explaining what to look for when tasting wine. We had 3 red and 3 white to taste and a different cheese was paired with each wine. We had to decide from three descriptions which wine we were tasting. There were quizzes with prizes and, of course, you can't have a WI event without a raffle and we had some fantastic raffle prizes donated to us by local businesses. So hoping we have raised loads of money to put towards our funds and also the charity "Dementia Friends of Keighley" which we are supporting this evening. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a lovely evening!
Fabulous evening with Andy Swinscoe from the Courtyard Dairy in Settle. We heard all about why cheese was made originally, it's decline in more recent years and the wonderful farm cheese that is now being produced in small quantities. We had tastings and then the opportunity to buy some cheese at the end of the evening.
