We were treated to an enthralling talk by Hanneke Dye at our November meeting, you could have heard a pin drop! She is a Jew and was born in hiding during the war in a house in Holland and then spent her early years hidden in an orphanage. She was also a torch bearer for the London 2012 Olympics and brought along the torch to be passed around -it was a great relief when it managed to get round without being dropped!

When Harden Players asked to be involved with their production of Calendar Girls we were a bit apprehensive about what they wanted us to do! But we needn't have worried; we assisted with decorating the entrance with sunflowers and selling homemade cakes, biscuits and preserves in the interval. More photos in our photo gallery pages. We raised at least £250 which will be donated to the Calendar Girls' Leukaemia charity. |
