We had a lovely time on our annual outing to Nostell Priory, a National Trust property near Wakefield, last Wednesday. The weather was kind to us and we had plenty of time to explore the grounds in the morning before we got together for lunch in the recently restored Orangery. We had booked an "Upstairs, Downstairs" tour which took us behind the scenes down into the cellars then up the female servants' stairs (90 of them - someone counted!) to see the attics where the servants slept - fascinating. There was still plenty of time to explore the main part of the house afterwards and just time to grab an ice cream before our return journey.
